Physics In The Bible
Does the Bible contain evidence of advanced psychics? I think it does. In the 13th century Nachmonides wrote that he believed that there were 10 dimensions from his study of the Book Genesis but only 4 were knowable. Physicists today studying Quantum physics conclude there are also 10 dimensions. And get this……Einstein said there was a 4th dimension.
Imagine how much time and money could have been saved by reading Nachmonides.
Job
In Job 38 our hero seems to have angered God a bit and is about to get a good talking to. God finally speaks to Job again and imagine this being you hearing this:
2“Who is this that obscures my plans
with words without knowledge?
3Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
Man up Job. I ask and you better answer. You have no knowledge.
Don’t we hear that all the time these days on social media? I’m filming myself in my car and by golly, I know and you don’t. Fools.
Strong Message To Follow
Anyone who is a Veteran knows what that means. God is about to give Job a lesson in physics.
I’ll paraphrase here in some places but know that my sarcasm is NOT God’s word. I’m just trying to modernize the salient points if someone stumbles across this who doesn’t understand the Bible or God at all.
I’m tempted to cut and paste the whole thing at once but I’ll break it up a bit.
4“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
7while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels a shouted for joy?
God is letting Job know in no uncertain terms that he simply doesn’t know. “Do you get it?” “Surely you must know”. To me this is funny yet not funny at all. Imagine the creator of all things telling you that you are too big for your britches.
Next God let’s Job know about the waters.
8“Who shut up the sea behind doors
when it burst forth from the womb,
9when I made the clouds its garment
and wrapped it in thick darkness,
10when I fixed limits for it
and set its doors and bars in place,
11when I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
here is where your proud waves halt’?
God set the line for where the waves stop. Not Climate Change, but God.
Next God tells Job about the earth and light.
12“Have you ever given orders to the morning,
or shown the dawn its place,
13that it might take the earth by the edges
and shake the wicked out of it?
14The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;
its features stand out like those of a garment.
15The wicked are denied their light,
and their upraised arm is broken.
And yet more scolding regarding the earth and the seas.
16“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
18Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.
“Hey Job”, God says. You’ve been around for a while. You must know all this stuff. More and more this sounds to me like some internet social media scolding of today.
19“What is the way to the abode of light?
And where does darkness reside?
20Can you take them to their places?
Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
21Surely you know, for you were already born!
You have lived so many years!
I pray that God never scolds me like this. I’m going to skip a few verses and get to the meat of it. It goes on a bit and it is a beat down of epic proportions. I encourage you to read it. Anyway, God lets Job know he made everything and controls everything and that Job isn’t quite as smart as he thinks he is. One more though before we move on.
31“Can you bind the chains b of the Pleiades?
Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
32Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons c
or lead out the Bear d with its cubs?
33Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s e dominion over the earth?
God is now saying he controls the heavens. “Can you loosen Orion’s belt” catches my attention. God can do whatever he wants in the heavens. God controls physics.
Zechariah
I’m going to jump to Zechariah 12:1
The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
Isaiah
Wow! Now let’s do Isaiah 40:22.
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
Let me take the bolded statements in a row. The earth is a circle for all you flat earthers.
Compared to God we are grasshoppers. There is another place in the Bible where that comparison is made. In Numbers 13:28 Moses sends out a scouting party who return and say that the inhabitants of Canaan are some big, scary looking dudes.
We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”
Finally we see that God can stretch out the heavens if he wants to. He controls time and space and can bend it (string theory) to his will. Physicists talk a lot about bending the fabric of space to lessen distances for space travel. Wonder if they will get a talking to from God as well?
Conclusions
The Bible speaks of multiple dimensions. Science backs it up. All the pipe dreams of physicists are child’s play for God. While God is scolding Job about “Where were you when I did all this?” we seemingly haven’t learned our lessons. God is God and we are simply mortals incapable of having a complete understanding of him and his glory and mightiness. We think we know it all but we aren’t close.
But it is pretty clear that the Bible discusses Quantum Physics. Only the Master Physicist is God himself. The architect and engineer of all things. If you feel like the Bible isn’t a scientific book then kindly explain to me how a book (Old Testament) written over 2000 years ago comes to the same scientific conclusion of modern day physics.
Good luck with that.
