Abortion And The Bible

Abortion And The Bible

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything here and I decided to pick a hot topic. Why not? Abortion is quite scientific and medically advancing and I think this fits into the theme of this blog which is Bible Technology.

The Bible establishes pretty quickly in Exodus 21 22-25 that hurting a pregnant woman and causing her to miscarry should result in civil action (fine by judge). If the woman dies as a result, the offender should be put to death as well.

22 “If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely[a] but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. 23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

Here is another tidbit most people don’t know or at least don’t discuss openly. In the Book of 1 Enoch 69:12 it describes that a Fallen Angel (demon) taught the art of abortion to mankind.

And the fifth was named Kasdeja: this is he who showed the children of men all the wicked smitings of spirits and demons, and the smitings of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away, and [the smitings of the soul] the bites of the serpent, and the smitings.

Clarification

Simply put, a demon is responsible for abortion. You can ignore that, you can dislike it, you can hate it. But a demon taught abortion to mankind.

Enoch

It is a virtual certainty that someone will state that Enoch is not a Book in the Bible. While that is true, there are several references to the Book of Enoch in the Bible. The book Jude 14-15 quotes 1 Enoch1:9

Jesus even quotes from Enoch in Matthew 22: 29-30.

The Book of Enoch was known to the people in those days and was something that was studied. Kind of like us reading and knowing our modern day works of famous written text.

Wrap Up

The Bible establishes clear penalties for causing a pregnant woman to miscarry to the perpetrator of the deed.

1 Enoch establishes the names of the Fallen Angels and what they taught to mankind.

I say this all this because I know people who openly call themselves Christians who vehemently protect the rights of women to have abortions.

My own personal opinion is that these two stances are contrary to each other. While I oppose abortion I do understand the tremendous stress and strain being pregnant through rape or incest could cause. Also a woman being told that she will die as a result of childbirth would be a tough call. I don’t pretend to know what God thinks about this and the decision would be between the woman and God and not a matter for public discussion. I sort of think the above exceptions are acceptable but I should point out they are acceptable to ME. Me who matters not. God is the arbiter here.

But I do worry about friends, family, and others who seem to think they are openly Christian yet support something God clearly opposes. If Enoch was right they are in fact supporting actual Doctrines of Demons.

That is not the correct side of God to be on.
