How Many Dimensions In The Bible
We live in a world of 3 known dimensions. And our mind can piece together a 3 dimensional representation from 2 dimensions. A good example of this is watching a video on a TV or movie screen. But how many dimensions are there really, and how many dimensions are in the Bible? We sometimes think of time as the 4th dimension. Or at least Einstein did.
Ephesians 3: 17-18 make mention of a 4th dimension.
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And later in the New Testament we see an example of the 4th dimension in John 20:19 when Jesus enters a room that has a locked door.
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders,Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
That’s a pretty swell trick and the Bible is full of supernatural instances that seem to involve this 4th dimension. I’ll expand on this later.
10 Dimensions?
Current string theory says we live in hyperspaces that may contain 10 dimensions but only 4 are discernible by us. Here’s an interesting twist. In the 13th century the Hebrew sage Nachmonides wrote that after studying the Book of Genesis that there were TEN dimensions and only 4 discernible. Wow!
At any rate, special things are contained within this 4th (or other) dimension. It seems to be some form of spiritual plane. How does Jesus walk through a locked door? Where do UFO’s come from, and where are they when they disappear? What are ghosts? I myself lived in a house in Okinawa Japan that had unexplainable occurrences. Additionally, how do some modern magicians seemingly bend the laws of physics? A real in depth study of SOME magicians will show you that they seem to have some additional help as they do things that aren’t possible. Many actors and songwriters claim to get material from supernatural sources. I could really go on and on about this. Many of them openly admit this.
Biblical Examples Of Spiritual Dimensions
Here are a few examples of some occurrences of other dimensions.
Adam and Eve walked and talked with God. Abraham and Moses heard God’s voice. Daniel met with an Angel. Jesus retuned from the dead and walked with people and they didn’t initially recognize him. The Apostle Thomas wouldn’t believe it until he stuck his finger in Jesus’s wound. I guess that’s where the term “Doubting Thomas” comes from.
On the flip side of this mediums communicate with “the dead”. Clearly there is something there. And you aren’t supposed to mess with it.
Leviticus 19:31
31 “ ‘Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.
But it may be unavoidable. If you encounter something you are supposed to test it as per 1 John 4
4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
The Bible talks about entertaining angels unaware in Hebrews 13:2. How would an angelic being come to be here on our earth?
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Validity Of Multiple Dimensions In The Bible
There is clearly a spiritual plane that is observable in both the Bible and via scientific and non-scientific methods. Famous UFO researcher Jacques Vallee stated that he believed UFO’s were inter-dimensional and not planetary. He also stated that he believed they were deceptive.
Every week on TV are dozens of paranormal shows, and while a lot of that field is full of charlatans, there are some authentic teams of researchers that clearly make contact with things that don’t belong in our 3 dimensional plane of existence.
The Bible seemingly mentions a 2nd and 3rd heaven. I have no idea whether a 4th dimension would be referencing the 2nd heaven or not. Apparently the 3rd heaven is where God resides according to scripture.
Wrapping Up
There are clearly supernatural phenomenon that we cannot explain that seem outside of our known dimensions. You are supposed to steer clear of such things, however if it comes to you, you are supposed to test it.
A rudimentary study of the Bible seems to reveal that the inspired words come from outside our understanding of time. The Bible accurately predicts the future which is a subject that I’ll broach soon.
